The LJ Exodus...
So what with LJ's release 88 being a steaming pile of poo, my fandoms and flist being all but dead, and DW having open sign-ups until the end of the year... I've decided (like thousands of other LJers) to move to DW. I don't know how much I'll post here (I don't post in LJ all that much tbh), and I'll stick with LJ for the time being, but... well. LJ has been pretty shitty lately (DDOS attacks, [livejournal.com profile] igrick being a dick, ignoring their userbase) and release 88 and LJ's attitude to critisism has finally pushed me to move.

I'm kind of annnoyed because my paid time on LJ just updated a month ago for the entire year -.- Cancelling autopayments, anyhow. If I get along better with DW I may get a paid account here (I miss my icon space!)

Overdue update is overdue. And random.
So I haven't been on LJ for about 6 months... sorry about that guys! Although looking a my flist, it seems a lot of others have stopped posting too. Sad times.
Update & Dr. Horrible motivational poster under the cut! )

Oh LJ, why are you being such a cock?

It's not like I just spent 20 minutes formatting that post for fun, you know. But no, you go ahead and eat all the formatting.

Grr.

GUYS GUYS.

[livejournal.com profile] dark_fest is running again this year!! :D :D

And this time I've actually heard about it early enough to be able to submit prompts, yay! So, anyone else going to write for it this year?

(Also, [livejournal.com profile] smthwallflower, it's now a year since we've been friends <3 )

US Peeps!

Okay, so thanks to [livejournal.com profile] lilithisbitter my writers block is fading, and I've started writing the fic she requested (feel free to request something too! I need all the ideas I can get if I'm ever going to defeat my millions of writing challenges...)

ANYWAY. Her prompt involved hair frosting... which I had to google, lol, as we don't call it that here. We call it highlighting. So, my American friends - do you call it highlighting as well as frosting? Or just frosting? Because personally I'd call it highlighting, but obviously I'd go with what the (American) characters are more likely to say.

Fucking HELL, LJ
Major tl;dr post of anger. LGBTQ issues. Took about an hour to write.

LJ FUCKING ATE IT.

Fuck this, I'm having dinner. Will post afterwards.

*rages*

EDIT: Oh, you don't eat that post, do you LJ?? When it took me all of ten seconds to write... GOOD CHOICE.

Faith in humanity is slipping...

(Mostly taken from [livejournal.com profile] sf_drama. When the swearing starts, it's me.)

The Pepsi Refresh Project is a monthly grant program run by Pepsi.

From their FAQ:

We are looking for ideas from individuals, non-profits and pro-social businesses that can make a positive impact in the community. Ideas should be feasible and completed 12 months from the date you receive the first funds. Ideas must have impact within one of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia.

Each month, up to $1.3 million will be awarded as follows: 2 Grants at the $250,000 level; 10 Grants at the $50,000 level; 10 Grants at the $25,000 level; and 10 Grants at the $5,000 level.

I think we can all agree that it's a wonderful program.

Some of the ideas currently listed at the $25,000 level:
- Integrate arts with academics in a center for challenged children
- Offer reading and math after school programs to at-risk rural children
- Provide room makeovers for children with disabilities in San Diego
- FictionAlley, a Harry Potter fanfic archive has submitted a grant proposal for $25,000 in charitable funds to keep their website up.

I just... there are no words for how fucking angry I am. That money is for charity, not for your precious Snape/Harry pr0nz. How ignorant do you have to be to do something like this? And, of course, they're encouraging people to vote for them. A lot of fandom is outraged, but some people are still voting for them...

So head over to the Pepsi Refresh Project and vote. There are so many good causes, and you get 10 votes every day! Don't let some stupid fansite admins take $25,000 from someone who really needs the money. :(

ELE community logo

[livejournal.com profile] horrible_fic   <--- Look, I made a little ELE community logo to go with my Dr. Horrible userhead ---> [livejournal.com profile] sazz_k

:D Once again, I used this tutorial by [livejournal.com profile] babytest to do it.

(By the way, this won't show up on your flist because you view that in your own journal style. You'll have to come over to my LJ to see it).

Look!!

[livejournal.com profile] sazz_k <<< I've got a little Dr. Horrible icon for userheads on my LJ :D

Props to [livejournal.com profile] babytest, because my CSS skillz are non-existant and without this awesome tutorial I never would have been able to do this :)

(Note: If you're viewing this on your Flist, it'll look like the normal userhead to you. You'll have to come over to my journal to see the awesome nerdiness ^_^ )

LJ fail

Okay, for everyone worried about the facebook/twitter thing, this code by [livejournal.com profile] xnguard will hide the facebook/twitter connect buttons when people comment on your journal. It won't stop them if they view your LJ in their own style, or if they have facebook/twitter automatically posting their comments, but at least it'll stop people accidently cross-posting, and hopefully deter people who haven't set it to automatically update.

Also, the LJ staff have finally responded, and there's a poll here to answer :)

LJ making me sad :(

You'll probably see a lot of these kinds of posts in the next few days, but please can I ask that anyone commenting on my journal (including on f-locked posts) please not repost on Facebook or Twitter?

There's an almighty furora about the lack of opt-out on this new repost feature, because comments on a Real Life Facebook or Twitter account might give away people's more anonymous fandom identities.

I use this livejournal account for fandom only and don't want it associated with my Real Life facebook or any other account.

(Please repost this type message to your own account if necessary! Fight the man!)

EDIT: AND NOW TAGS WITH A "/" IN DON'T FUCKING WORK! WHAT THE FUCK, LJ?? DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND HOW MANY PEOPLE AND COMMS USE FORWARD SLASHES?

Fucking hell, my paid time is up soon and I'm not sure if I'm going to renew it. I AM NOT PAYING FOR THIS BULLSHIT, LJ.
