Fanfic Recap Meme

Snagged from everyone.

01. Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?:

Well, I'd never written any fanfic before this year, so definitly more - I didn't expect to write any at all!

02. What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?

Like I said, I didn't think I'd be writing fanfic, but I'll say Dr. Horrible becuase I didn't know anything about it until July. I didn't start shipping Horrible/Hammer until I got more into the fandom either - my first reaction to Horrible/Hammer pairing fics was along the lines of "But... they hate each other!! It makes no sense!!". Now, of course, I've seen the light and know they really have lots of angsty nemeses hate sex ^_^

03. What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?:

Hahaha I don't exactly have "popular" stories... it's not like I get hundreds of comments and get recced and stuff. But it isn't a huge fandom and - I know it's a cliche - the actual writing is fun, comments are a bonus :)
As for my favorite story... I quite like Everything's Slipping Away because dark fic is awesome, and I'm fond of Blessed Are The Forgetful too, writing in the second person was weird but fun, and I think it worked well.

04. Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?:

Er... no? Haha, well as I'm new to this whole fanficcing thing it's always a different experience.
Yeah, that sounded wanky...
I don't know, I guess I'm trying to write more linear stories (like the fic that's very nearly ready to be posted - it's over 2000 words! Haha, sadly that is an achievment for me) and I've got a few ideas for *gasp* multi-chaptered fics. I usually seem to write little series of drabbles, which is fun, but I want to try something else.

05. Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?:

Get better at writing longer stories, don't put off writing when I have a good idea, and learn to think up decent titles >:(

06. From my past year of writing, what was...

My Best Story:

I quite like Guilt. It was fun making Captain Hammer feel more genuine and sympathetic.

Story Most Underappreciated by the Universe:

Probably Blue, it got two reviews. I quite liked it to be honest (which is the most important thing anyway), I liked tying in the colour blue through all the drabbles and showing how Penny's view of Billy changes, but apparently I was the only one xD

Most Fun:

Back In Ten Minutes was fun, because shy Billy is sweet and awesome xD

Most Disappointing:

Things that seemed like a good idea but just didn't work. For one of my [livejournal.com profile] 10_titles fics I was trying to make a particular comparison between Penny and Captain Hammer's fans, but it just wouldn't work. Sadface :(

Most Sexy:

Stuck In The Middle! Because the Billy/Penny/Hammer sandwich is totally the hottest thing ever, as well as clearly being the best way to solve the love triange ;) OT3 FTW!

Hardest to Write:

That'd probably be the WIP sequal to Everything's Slipping Away that may or may not ever be finished. I get inspired, write bits, then feel guilty because it's really dark, go off it for a few weeks, then get inspired again...

Most Unintentionally Telling:

No Happy Endings. How Billy feels in that fic is from first-hand experience :/

I adore your little drabbles and I'm continually amazed at how you can convey so much in so few words, but I'd love to see that long fic of yours! I don't think I've ever cracked four digits myself, heh. XD

Also, *nudges* finish that sequel!! I neeeed to see how that turns out!

Oh, thank you ^_^ Drabbles are fun to write.

Yeah, I've only got one fic posted that's above 1000 haha. But ficlets and drabbles are good! Quality, not quantity ;)

I'll try, I'll try! I just feel so bad... Penny doesn't deserve it :(

Decent titles are like, the hardest thing in the world ever to do. Seriously.

I'm glad you did this though, I just realized there's a bunch of stuff I haven't read. *goes off to read*

Happy New Year!!

Tell me about it :( Other people seem to be so good at it though!! I mostly end up either using the prompt title if it's for ff100, or nicking a song title xD
I think summaries are hard too :(

Happy New Year :)
