Fic: Trick Or Treat
Title: Trick Or Treat
Rating: PG-13
Characters/Pairing: Child!Billy
Word Count: 308
Warnings: None
Summary: Billy only went trick or treating once.
A/N: So, I'm currently dressed as Dr. Horrible, waiting for my housemates to get ready so we can go out, and inspiration hit! I'm using this fic for my fanfic100 prompt 028. Children.
“What are you supposed to be?”
Billy looked up at the other boy. “Professor Science.”
“Who’s that?”
“He’s a super hero. I made him up.”
Jack sneered. “Heroes don’t have names like that. They’re called things like Justice Joe, and Bearman, and Sir Strong.”
“Well, Professor Science has a name like that,” Billy replied defiantly.
“Only villains like science.”
“Do not.”
“Do too! Like Chemical Burns, or Dr. Despicable.”
“Heroes like science too!” Billy protested. “What about…” He thought furiously for a science-themed super hero, and, drawing a blank, replied sulkily; “Well, Professor Science will be the first science super hero.”
Jack shook his head. “Professor Science is a super villain,” he said nastily. “And super villains aren’t allowed to come trick or treating with us.”
Billy looked at the floor. “My mom said I had to go with you,” he mumbled. “She said she asked your mom if I could.”
Jack paused. Moms were all-powerful, far beyond the rules of super heroes and villains. “Fine,” he said begrudgingly. “But only if I get your candy.”
“Why?”
“Because I’m Justice Joe, and I’m a hero, and you’re a villain and villains don’t get candy.”
Billy sighed. Giving up his candy was probably easier than explaining to his mom that he didn’t have any friends. “Fine.”
Jack turned and ran back to his group of friends, his red cape flapping behind him. Billy trailed behind, pushing up the long sleeves of the over-sized lab coat he’d borrowed from school. He reached up and adjusted the welding goggles his dad had lent him.
“C’mon, Billy!” one of the parents called as they began herding the group of over excited witches, devils, cats, and heroes down the street.
“I’ll show them,” Billy whispered furiously to himself. “When I’m grown up I’ll be Professor Science and then they’ll see science is good.”

This is adorable. And Jack stealing Billy's candy because he's a hero and Billy's a 'villain' is SO in tune with the whole Dr Horrible universe. Poor Billy.
But Moms are all-powerful. Heh.
Looooved <3
Happy halloweening!

This was so cute, though I feel bad for little!Billy. Mean kids didn't realize they were ruining society's chance to use Dr. Horrible's brain for good. :D

And those are the ones I can name off the top of my head. But that smarmy little jerk is right in that science is demonized. Just look at climate change denial.
