I'm in tears after watching this. I just... I can't understand how anyone could hate someone so much just for who they love.
I'm so lucky, much luckier than I realise. My friends support me, my family support me. I live in a country where I have equal rights, regardless of sexual orientation. Where I can be free in expressing who I love.
The most I've ever had to deal with was a few nasty words from a boy at school when I said I wouldn't have sex with him, and the fact that one of my friends can't tell her parents I'm queer or else they would try to stop her being friends with me. Both those things are unacceptable, but... Compared to the terrible things these people have suffered in that video... It's nothing.
I always kind of laughed at homophobes - I mean, how stupid do you have to be to judge someone on what gender the person they fall in love with is? Let's face it - gender isn't that big a deal. One different chromosome, a few different hormones, and a slight plumbing difference down below. It's not much. It doesn't change the person.
But homophobes aren't stupid. They're inhuman. We're supposed to be a civilised species - murdering someone on the bases of their sexuality - on the bases of something they can't change - isn't civilised.
If anyone can watch that video and still feel that being gay is "wrong", just defriend me. Now. I don't want to have anything to do with you.
